Returning player v 2.0. Questions / Comments.

Post by TheSilverHammer »

This is 2.0 because the forum ate my first post. This will be much abridged.

I played desaria2 quite some time ago, maybe when you were on PWC file version 7. I had a monk and between the frustration of dying constantly and client crashes I quit playing and went back to playing WoW.

Anyway I am back again and got my monk, Zin, to level 4. It has been a much easier ride this time. It helped that a server reset allowed me to do the newbie quests 2x. Life is still difficult as a monk though. Gear isn't sold anywhere and you do not grant any newbie gear to monks. It seems warriors get basic armor, shield and weapon. This is a significant boost to their AC. I think to be fair you could give the monk +1 robes, +1 gloves (AC or to Hit), and maybe a ring or amulet of protection or natural armor.

I have been to every vendor in town and nobody sells monk gear. If you want +1 armor of any time, leather, studded, chain, plate, etc... you can buy it from an NPC. No one sells +1 robes. Similarly I think there are also magic weapons too. It would be nice for one vendor to stock things of interest to monks in this regard so we can get a basic set of boots, gloves (instead of weapons), and amulets / rings (in place of a shield and to augment our already weak AC). Nothing high powered, but something to spend money one. Right now if I had like 50k gold, unless the smith outside of town happens to have something on him, there is nothing I could buy from any vendor in the first town to help me. A warrior, archer, rouge, etc... would have plenty of things to buy.

I would like to know if there are any class guilds in the game. Like a wizards guild, thieves guild, or monastery in my case. There appears to be a monk related structure in the back of the starting city, but it is locked and there doesn't seem to be any monk related NPCS anywhere.

I have not taken any crafting with my monk, but his skills are alchemy or traps. Any recommendations which would be profitable? Also where do I learn basic recipes? Id like to make acid or fire flasks, but I have no idea how to make them. Can you make healing kits? I also saw something about alchemy making elemental arrows (fire, acid, etc...). Where do you go to learn this stuff? It would be nice to have some very basic recipes to get you started.

I would like to praise whomever did the quest involving the gnome, magic spoon, and vampires. That was totally awsome. I hope you did a lot more quests in this game.

The expansion for NWN2 is due out soon. Are there plans for it, such as raising the level cap or other changes?

Fighter types only start with the armor on their backs, and its not even good armor.

You can get two amulets of natural armor pretty easily by level 4, I suggest going to the temple of Falaris and talking to the priestess there... hunting wolves and boars also brings in some solid cash, plus a interesting talk with a druid can bear fruit if you take the... natural... road, as it were.

As to being able to buy gear, just check Ealdon regularly. All sorts of stuff moves through him and there is no pernament vendor who sells +1 gear of any kind. Anything you find there will have been sold to Ealdon from a PC. Also, there is the Marketplace on the forum that you can post the desire to purchase items at.

On class guilds, there is no DM created guilds for any class. Presently there is a Mage's guild (for any arcanist), and it is player created and player run, as would be any other faction. Factions in Dasaria are not usually focused on classes, but rather on like-minded individuals with similar goals.

Finally, I don't know anything about crafting, can't help you there.

The complete list of craftable items can be found here. Figuring out how to make most things is pretty simple if you pay attention. Otherwise, you'll have to find a craftsmen in game and ask them to teach you.

The DMs haven't mentioned any plans for the expansion. I wouldn't count on changes to the level cap. Dasaria has always been capped at level 20.

I saw that list. I guess standard items have been removed from crafting if that list is complete.

Ealden has monk robes and gloves pretty often, just check back. You could also check The Marketplace for a better deal.
