I don't find groups too often, so it's hard to hunt anywhere at all. Kalem is virtual suicide, the rats fair little better, and the things in the mountain don't even bear mentioning. Suffice it to say, I want to hunt, but finding the group to do so is sometimes difficult.
It is. My monk is kind of stuck now, at level 11. Any of the places he can go to get xp are incredibly dangerous. He can easily die, and in-fact after several attempts at each place and dying despite being buffed and as careful as possible, I am unable to progress without a group. No lower level quests are available and every higher level quest is completely unsoloable.

Normally Ill log in, look for a group for a short while and then log on an alt who is lower level and can solo (or find a lower level group).

It will be interesting to see how other classes stack up in comparison of difficulty. I know my cleric, so far, can do quests with far more ease then my monk. I attribute this mainly to the fact that just by donning some basic armor and using a basic spell buff, his AC at level 1 is much better then the AC of my monk at level 11. Most things can only hit him on a natural 20.

I think at level 6 he might be able to solo the kalem dungeon, although he might have to be careful. I think my monk couldn't do that till 8 or 9.

You mentioned in another post about your +1 monk gear. I don't know what your funds situation is, but you might want to consider improving your gear, as +1 stuff is very low for your level. Also, you have a number of options for self-buffing using charms and potions, which would be a good idea.

At level 11, you should be able to solo the Monastery, although with some danger. You can certainly solo Bugbears at that level, though I do not think the quest is still available, I am sure you can still "get inside" at level 11.

Keep in mind that we all have a dearth of places to hunt at our level as the dungeon options are quite limited. That is to be expected in a PW on NWN2, and especially true here due to RL time constraints for the world builders.

Good luck to you man. Hope you persevere and find some success. Pure melee builds are not easy here, but I am certain they are fun. Remember, if it were a lot easier for you, it would be a lot less fun.

No they aren't. There is nothing more boring than pure melee in D&D. I mean, it's just click to attack, use one of your two melee abilities if you feel like it, and hope that the dice rolls favor you.

Silver,

Since you mentioned in another thread that you have +0 wisdom bonus on your monk, you may want to consider starting over from scratch. One of the BEST benefits of the monk class is the Wisdom bonus to AC. Without it, you have either made a conscious RP choice to have a less divine monk, or you have made a serious mistake in your build. Either way, it alone can account for much of the basis of your problems in Das2.

The only thing it would change would be like 2 or 3 ac (most likely 2, I would not put 6 pts into wisdom).

However, i am not going to start over on him. Ill just use another class. I have made other mistakes with his build, but I am ok with that. I am not trying to make the most uber god-mode monk possible.

Maybe when crafters figure out how to make magic armor and weapons ill pick him up again. I still may play him some, but Ill mostly focus on alts. I am sure once Wyvrn fixes my account with my Sorcerer, I may play him heavily and not look at my monk for quite some time.

I also can try a druid, maybe 2 levels of monk and 18 of druid. I hear they work out really well. Id get flurry of blows, wisdom AC, improved unarm strike (which I hear works in shape shifted mode), and evasion. I would need to be really careful of quest options and make sure I didn't shift to lawful good or lawful evil.

This thread may prove some insight into this build.

I'll throw this out since this is an area analysis thread, and it (kinda) falls under both categories.

A.) The city of Caer is big. Obviously. However, with guards all over the place, townfolk all over, and merchants hither and yon all over the district, there are no maps, no map-markers, nothing to designate where things are. Surely someone would have thought: "Gee, this place is so big, and we are merchants. Maybe we should make a map and pin-point the locations of our shops, so we don't get overlooked and loose business..."

I myself find it very frustrating to spend nearly half an hour looking for the music shop in the city region (and don't even ask me where to find the temple for that bloody agrimony quest.) Add in the crashes when zoning in and out of that place, and you've got an aggravation that just won't let up.

B.) Semi related to the overall issue is that some shops that seem to go together with the quests I have...don't. I've found a journal on a corpse in the rat-infested area, and from reading it, one would (or at least I did) conclude that it's related to a specific shop, or variation thereof. The problem, is I've checked every shop that is related to it, and I can find no clue as to what to do next. With the searching for shops taking so long of a time, and the crashes along the way, it is not making the area that enjoyable. But that's just my side of it.

It's not related to a shop, but an inn. Check out the Buck, you might find some leads there.

Lorcann - "BACON!"

Hrmm...I will visit the Buck then. And what of this temple I have heard about that is supposedly in the city proper? I've yet to find even so much as a muttering priest or priestess wandering about outside it.
