Draco faded into view next to Faen and set Fuzzy down on her shoulder.

"I received the message, sister. Will you be able to reproduce the symbol in the tree if necessary?" He asked in Infernal, keeping his voice low.
Draco - "Allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste."
Lorcann - "BACON!"

Smiles at the commander, and decides to entertain him "Very well, of course Commander. "

Minuvas displays perhaps a flash of arrogance as he composes himself. His demeanor is full of confidence and assurance in his duty.

"You must understand, the body is Property of the Church. None of your men were in the area, and it was right outside my Church. I simply used my rights as the ranking member of the Church in the area, to preserve and protect the body of one of my own men. I would hate for him to be embarrassed."

"I take no law into my hands, I use only the Laws that are given to us by the Emperor. I encourage no Citizen to take Vigilante justice, but we are not afforded the right to strike down the man who attempts to pick-pocket us?

Are my Neophytes not allowed to come with me into the wilderness of the province to strike down a man who recently murders one of our own?.

Let us not divide the houses of Varana, for we are letting the Heretics win should baseless accusations against me continue. Ask any of the true followers of this Church my devotions are to the Empire and Lochwar eternal, there are REAL criminals on the loose this very minute. I do not judge your men for coming into here instead of looking for a criminal who has brutally and sacreligiously destroyed a comrade, you should not judge me for doing my duty as a priest and a brother to a fallen comrade. "

He paces around the room, before pauses, his arms behind his back.

"Your Commodore made no mention of wishing to keep the body in place in fact he encouraged me to let it be buried, nor did he demand that I not take care of my own wounded. I was complying with one of your own men at the scene, Commander. The law was complied with."

Minuvas points a finger to the exit of the Temple doors, "Your men as I said are welcome to use the resources they need of this Church. There is much mourning and preparation to do in the light of our fallen comrade, so please forgive but I must attend to those matters.

I wish you the wisdom of Farallis and the will of Lochwar in these matter Commander, we are more than happy to assist in any way necessary.

Now there is a heretic that runs loose amongst the hills, and mocks a priest of Lochwar in this desecration. He looks amongst the hills and laughs at us, now we of the Church have done our part to maintain the dignity of this Church - and we are doing all that is necessary to avenge our fallen brother. So I unfortunately must bid you good day, Commander"

"I shall escort you to the temple Exits if you wish, since I am heading out to comfort a grieving family that is troubled over these events. Is there anything further that you need?"

He smiles. As the Neophyte with the tea leaves the room and has left it on Minuvas' desk.

Scout-Lieutenant Myriah Snapwyre approached the scene silently. She conferred quietly with the Commodore. "Where is the body Sir, so I can be sure the wounds were made with this weapon?" Upon hearing Minuvas already removed the body, a brief frown crosses her features.

Her long fingers pick up the sword, her expression one of distaste. Her eyes glance over it, looking for any particular markings or insignias. She then hands the sword back to her Captain and proceeds to search the area around the tree, her sharp eyes taking in every detail.

"Why can't people wait for me to try to track before they come and muck up the tracks?"

Commander Allers smiles coldly, before reaching over and grabbing Minuvas by the neck of his armor and hauling him over the desk.

"Make no mistake...priest. The Fleet are my men, and they were present. And the next time you try to point me to the exit, I will break off your finger. I suggest you learn your place quickly. You answer to your superior, the various bishops of your church who in turn answer to the Emperor. I answer to the glorious Marcus himself."

The military man lets go of the priest, and pets him on the shoulder.

"I will take your display of arrogance as a lapse as you have just lost a member of your community. I do suggest you temper yourself and your words in the future. I expect any information regarding the fallen priest in Captain Cato's hands within the hour."

As a unit the three Talon turn and stride out the door.

*Minuvas wipes the small trickle of blood that comes from his lip. Although pain is no unfamiliar matter to him*

As the Commander exits, a small crowding of Neophyte enters the Quarters. "Father, are you alright? The Commander was most arrogant as he came in here and hurt you"

"Aye!" another shouted "The Commander had no right to-"

Minuvas sliced a hand "The next man who speaks Ill of the Commander will find himself joining our fallen brother at the next funeral. He is a true Varanite, and his character is strong. If more men were like him this province would not be in the situation it is in now. You should be glad and honored the Talon Commander comes here to bless us with his wisdom and his strength.

You shall respect the man."

Minuvas twisted logic and understanding of the situation, could only explain his years of service to Lochwar and life in old Varana. No better glory than confrontation, and the Commander had shown his strength worth his mettle - not like the weak and Paltry Commodore.

Scout-Lieutenant Myriah looks at the scene, then glances back at the sword the Commodore now holds. She frowns a moment, shaking her head slightly. She appears to go back to searching the area then stops in indecision.

"Commodore, may I please see that weapon once again?"

As she inspects the weapon once more, her face goes pale and she shakes her head in negation once. She looks at the Commodore with troubled blue eyes and whispers directly into his ear.

"Sir...this blade is old Dasarian made."

She reached up to stroke her famliar in comforting manner.

Leyland stood tall beside the Commodore, scribbling notes in his pad. His jade eyes followed his own writing vigorously as he glanced up every few moments to study the scene. The symbol on the tree seemed to hold his attention for a great amount of time. His hand began to move again. taking more notes in his pad—the pages flipping as he completed each section.

Leyland's glance moved to the Lieutenant as she walked to the scene and his face softened a tad before quickly returning to it's cool demeanor.
He raised a brow as Myriah approached the Commodore and whispered to him, the sword held tightly within her grasp.

He turned to the two of them, his gaze fixed on the blade. The writing instrument was poised above the page, waiting for his next train of thought.

Begins walking to the Commodore, as he holds an envelope.

"I just wanted to keep you and your men updated. The body still had his imperial papers on him, he was not robbed. He had most of his possessions and belongings on his person.

As you know, Thralls Gate has no other Priests but myself and Father Willis.

According to his Imperial Certificate he was assigned under Priest Executioner Caldis of Northern Dasaria.

He was approximately 65 seasons old, and his name was Father Heronimus Lair, and was on Dispatch from his Priest Executioner to this Temple for unknown reasons at this time. Perhaps he was delivering a message, or perhaps he was on other official business. From what we understand at this time, he has no living relatives. His three Sons and his Father all died in Imperial Military service. His Father died in the war against the Barbarians, and his Sons died on miscellaneous Military details of which the circumstances would be more available to you than me.

As a man of such a small rank with the Church, he came without escort. Church protocol would dictate that if his message was anything of great import, he would have been sent with Exemplars or a Maiden.

That is all I know for now, I have sealed this information in an envelope for Captain Cato - I'm sure you know where to find her better than I. Should your men need access to the body, it is being stored in the lower quarters of the temple out of public view.

A day mourning will be occurring on the next morn, and a sermon held in the name of our brother. Any wishing to pay respects may attend then."

Minuvas leaves him the letter, before turning back to the Temple.

"Should hostilities erupt, we will remain uninvolved unless directly ordered to do so." Draco replied, still keeping his voice low. "We cannot be seen to take sides; the other would make our lives rather difficult."

"Now, Faen, what do you make of the dragon?"
Draco - "Allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste."
Lorcann - "BACON!"

"Now, Faen, what do you make of the dragon?"
"As you wish."

Faen allowed a smile, "Precisely what the creator of the sign wished the
citizens of Cear to observe, I expect. I wouldn't think anyone would be
quite so foolish to have this public of a display. Then again, this
mysterious party was foolish enough to cross the Talon, so that tells the
lack of their ability to formulate intelligent thought."

A cerulean-gloved hand reached up to his chin, stroking the beard that hung there in an inquisitive manner. He nodded to Myriah, half-expecting the blade to be heretical of some nature—it was, after all, left behind in a rather prominent position. It was simply fitting that it was Dasarian in origin.

Although his parents were from Old Varana, and he was Old Varana by blood, he knew a great deal about these Dasarians and their symbols and history—growing up and Cear meant he had a unique understanding. He hoped it would help him crush this bit of resistance, and restore order to the lawless.

Fist was speaking, and he looked up with interest.

"Very good, Sub-Constable. Seize that bit of rope—smartly, now—and have it stowed away carefully."

He was conscious of his brother's presence, and was glad for it. Ley was a smart man; far smarter than he when it came to the gods. He hoped he would be able to make some sense of those symbols. A dragon? A net? What did it all mean?

Movement to his side caused him to turn, his eyes landing on Father Minuvas. He nodded curtly as the priest spoke, gesturing to his aide-de-camp as if to prompt the Constable to take notes. This was all good information; it cast some light on the Priest's life, which might illuminate some measure of his death.

He took the envelope from the Priest, examined it for a moment, and then promptly handed it back.

'I believe you have been ordered to deliver this information to Captain Cato, Father. I will be acquiring a copy from her when she receives it. Thank you for the oral update."

It would not do well to bypass the chain of command, and receive an update before Cato had a chance to look at it. That is what bothered the Commodore about Minuvas—he understood so little about the chain of command. His arrogance would land him in a noose one day.

With that, Torquil turned back to his company of Fleet-members, listening and making the odd comment as they went about their business.

Sparks fall to the floor, dancing in the nigh-dark. A blade is pressed to the grindstone, sending an ethereal shower spitting into the dank air. Focused eyes look down upon the brand and the wheel, swimming with faith and fire. They are the eyes of a zealot, the eyes of a killer, the eyes of a stranger. He hums, oddly at peace with himself, or perhaps with his patron. As his work is finished, he beholds the sparkling edge, warm to the touch from the rigorous sharpening. He clasps the blade between his hands, as if in prayer, and mutters to whoever could listen.

"Give me strength, O Millennium King, for what I must undertake...."

His voice trails off into prayer, the sword never leaving his grip.
