Server is up right now, but once DM's start going to bed there will be no one to kick it back up. We currently don't have an auto-start implemented, but plan on getting one going soon.
Here's a question to the players: Would you rather keep playing and crash every 30 minutes to an hour, or would you want us to close it down until we can resolve it?

I'd say close it down until its fixed. If you have to keep restarting it as often as that, it'll become a headache for you and the players, and you'll have less time to track down whatever bugs are causing the problems and fix them.
Plus, constant crashes might turn off new players who would then get a bad impression about Dasaria rather than a good one. To use an example: it doesn't matter how good a TV show is, if the station is constantly fuzzing out from a bad signal, people won't watch it.

I'm the last admin awake, and that's going to change as soon as this post is... posted. The server's been steady for about an hour and a half now.. But, once it goes down it won't be back up until another admin wakes up.
All things considered I had a lot of fun today, and it was great seeing old friends and making new ones. We will hope the up coming patch fixes at least some of the server issues, and those it doesn't, we will do our best to fix them ourselves.
G'night folks,
~Joker

If you build it, they will come.

I was able to make it on for a whole 5 minutes before it crashed. Had Das I been like this when I first started I wouldn't have bothered and would have missed out on all the wonderfull content, players and DM support this community has to offer. I say take what time you need and fix the bugs.
I know what it comming once it gets stable and it will be worth the wait.

I thought the answer the fellow gave the teifling was also a good example of getting someone back into RPing without being harsh. The tiefling's next words were" Oh, please excuse my ramblings", so his response acheived the desired effect.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of the way that nearby objects go invisible to you? I had the devil of a time finding Laul because I never saw the large oak tree he was near. Apparently I was always just close enough to the tree for it to be invisible to ne, so I basically just stumbled over him. I kind of "saw" the tree fading in and out finally, but it was never easy to see. I have noticed this effect in the single player game, too, when you walk near a large stationary object. You still can't walk through it, but it does disappear. I'd like to turn off that effect if possible.
And as for bringing the server down to fix it, I say go ahead! We waited this long, we can wait some more, and there is still plenty for me to do in the single player game! You guys do what you need to do to make it stable.

Well, I don't know what happened between the time Joker went to bed, and the time I got up this morning, but the server is still up currently, which can't be bad. Ironically, by having you guys try to bear with the issues, and report to us the bugs will be the best way to help us get fix things. A lot of the bugs don't manifest themselves until its under load. The server is going to be monitored periodically throughout the day and will be kick started once it is found to have gone down.
I would ask that if any of you find anything significant that you are doing at the time it crashes, then report it to the bugs forum. We need information guys and girls, and you are the ones who can provide that to us. So please, do stick with it. We do have a buggy product, but it WILL improve. I am not going to give up on making it the best that I can because of a few bumps along the way. The other option is to just leave it for a few weeks, and hope that a few of the patches straighten things out. It is going to take time. But we do have something.

You know, you have a very supportive community here. NO ONE has flamed the forums about the server instability, that is very impressive! BUT without players to put the load on the server, it would be hard to test the bug fixes.
A possible solution is to password the server, give it a name "Dasaria Beta" and let us know the password. Then when you need to test the load, just let us know and I am sure you'd get a dozen of folks willing to jump in and give it a go.
Then you are protecting the new comers from joining the unstable server and you also get enough people to test the fixes.
That changes of course, if you already have beta testers in place, just a thought
PS: Server instability is an NWN2 issue and not Dasaria sounds like from reading the nwn2 forums.

The "revert to beta" option was discussed last night and I think I will roll the project back to that status. When I get back I will probably do just that - password protect the server, rename it, and invite groups in to test it. Not much is going to get done during the day, and Jeh and J4 are both out tonight so bear with us. I have a few admin tasks to take care of, but once that is done, I will be working with the main server, trying to get it running. It will be up and down so bear with it. We have the script in place to save characters when resting so I can't stress enough how often you need to hit that rest button so your progress is saved.
If it wasn't for the community here, I wouldn't be investing so much time away from 1 on 1 time with my family and I think ultimately it will take the efforts of all of us to get to where we need to be.
Thanks for helping to make this happen. All of you are Dasaria, remember that.

First of all dude, make sure you make your family #1. The game and the rest of us is just not worth it when it comes to the choosing.
Regarding the "beta testers" start a thread and have people post their available times and who is willing to help out with the test. Maybe it will help you plan the testing schedules, when you can get the most people online.
Just a suggestion.
