Ode

Post by Aden Flin »

He left the warmth of his hearth as a youngster,
and was raised both a farmer and songster
from that green and lush valley and clear flowing water,
such were the lands of his home near the border;

_____Away from the place of his birthing and the arms of his mother,
_____amidst the tears of a sister and brother
_____and away from the pride of his father.

He took with him, the spirit of youth and the gift of his song,
and he wandered far from the place he had come;
he follow'd the path 'til his life and the memories he'd taken were gone,
and his body returned to the earth and then back to the sun;

_____He missed not the place of his birthing, or the arms of his mother,
_____heard not the weeping of sister and brother,
_____and he felt not the pride of his father.

He by birth, half man and half other, race of ancients endowed with favour,
flows in the blood of his veins and his heart's chamber,
knight of old ways, oath made forever and unbroken honour;
His heart, hardened, seeking revenge in his rage for the other;

_____His name left unspoken, save in the arms of his mother,
_____Forgotten by sister and brother,
_____and lost to the pride of his father.

He searches ever, the seasons revolving; the years of a long distant past
will be rejoined with the present, and with the soul in the battle of longing at last,
its kaleidoscope hues from golden to scarlet and then to argent re-cast,
Guard of the violet, true to the word, the law of the Templar stands fast;

_____To find again the place of his birthing, the arms of his mother,
_____the tears and the smiles of a sister and brother,
_____and still... the pride of his father.

Calling o'er sky, the glorious argent and blue."
