Purely for clarification, but it's not a PR stunt — Obama or his presidency cannot nominate him, nor is the Nobel Prize committee based in the US.

Saying that, I don't think it's entirely deserved. Maybe in a year or two, if he proves himself, but awarding it to him so soon seems so politically charged.

Okay. So Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. That is only step one. Living up to such a prestigious prize is the next thing. The pressure is on. Will Obama live up to the reputation that has been created for him? Or will he fall from grace like every other hero on this planet has done? I'm not for or against him winning the prize. Its all about what he will do with that reputation, that clout, that should show us in the end as to whether or not he deserved it. Cause if all works out for the betterment of mankind, then these initial arguements of how it came about would be erased with time. Forgotten and forgiven.
But if it all blows up in his face, if he fails at everything he attempts to accomplish... will we point fingers and say 'I told you so'? We will laugh and disgrace him on our mindless television programs? Will his quite now world-famous name end up a pyriah to name one's child? If he fails can humankind forgive him? Or will he disappear into the North American history books like Van Buren, Polk, and Mckinley with a little footnote that says "Oh yeah, this guy was America's first African-American president".

You dont "live up to the award." It should be given to someone who has already proven themselves. Pres Obama getting this award is a joke, there must be a million better qualified people for this award. I mean, not even Mother Teresa got the nobel peace prize award, and your telling me Pres Obama deserves it??? Rediculous, simply rediculous.
