You have my sympathies Bal, I've lost quite a few cats myself, always a grief-filled moment.

A 16 year old cat? You can rest well knowing that you did a fine job of taking care of Dog. The fact that he died in your lap should tell you that he trusted you and sought comfort from you. Animals know when they are dieing and often find a place to hide before their passing so he knew that he would be safe with you in those last moments.

My sympathies.
I know I'm probably going to be going through something similar soon. My cat, Smokey (aka Dustmop), is 19 this year.

Re: not a dasarian topic
I am sorry for your loss. Mon-da-oth is right about an animal searching for the right place to spend their last few moments. Sounds like he really enjoyed his life with you.
I've lost many friends, animals and humans alike. Each loss doesn't make the next one any easier. Yet, it does force one to focus on the good and preciously sweet moments that were shared in the past, recognize what is shared with those around you now, and look forward to, or create, those moments in the future.
My deepest condolences Mr. Balamor.
