The Drow are not a new race to Dasaria, there were several well played families and individuals in NWN1, but they were few and far in between. We also had our share of Drizzt's.tenodera wrote:...Correct me if i'm wrong, but apparently they're a new race to this world - so how in the world does YOUR and all the other characters know all of this about Drow?

"Do you think I could get away with another beauty spot?"
"Any more beauty spots and people will think you've got the plague."
Ok , that's where some of my confusion was. Thanks for clearing that upKoolestLoser wrote:The Drow are not a new race to Dasaria, there were several well played families and individuals in NWN1, but they were few and far in between. This is why I bothered posting a reply to your introductory statement in this debate. I sincerely want players to enjoy Dasaria, but for the right reasons. I suspect many players are going to be disappointed when the Dasaria campaign doesn't sacrifice it's integrity to meet the desires of some of the new players that have just arrived on the scene.tenodera wrote: Remember at one point you were one of those new players only here for minutes trying to find a home.
I'm an encourager. Everyone who knows me here knows this to be true. I'm looking forward to playing alongside many new players here.
But I can tell you right now, I'm also looking forward to many new players here going right back to the MMORPGs from whence they came. I have seen more 'CHANGE THIS PLZ' posts than I have ever seen here before. The more of these I see, the less open-minded I get.
Adapt to the campaign. Stop expecting the campaign to adapt to us.

Yes we do and what usually happens to new races that attempt to integrate with us? They start at the bottom, they get austrisized by the rest of the community. In many cases they are enslaved and/or openly hated against.tenodera wrote:But we find new species in the real world every day =PTinuvhiell wrote:No they do not. The largest wound will come from those you considered friends.
They get put on endangered species lists to be saved...lolChikenKannon wrote:Yes we do and what usually happens to new races that attempt to integrate with us? Anywho, I'm done with this antagonistic thread before it gets ugly....see you people in game. (no offesne to anyone specifically, just the general stereotype of Rp vs WoW, drow players, elitists...whatever)

Just to toss in my two cents..
to the new players...play. storylines have been carved out of nothing before, and there have been players who have changed minds and opinions based on their actions. the DM team is dealing with how to deal with races and characters, surprise us.
to the older players. im somewhat amazed. for the past few days ive been playing under a fake user name and new drow character. ive been lecture OOC, told to go to another server, and even flat out told that my type of player isnt needed here.
then again, some of our old vets have taken the chace to make sure i knew what i was doing, offered help, and welcomed me to the community.
there has been a bit of snobbish behavior on both sides of the fence, keep in mind this is a game, not a hard core RP server, and a chance for everyone to start out fresh.

Well, I'm neither against or for drow players. I don't know enough about the lore here to state my opinion on that. I do believe its important for new players to at least attempt to fit in with the lore.
In the end though it doesn't matter, its not your or my decision. Its Jehannum's decision, if he says it is or is not acceptable, then thats the way it is. He's the one who provides this world for us to play on.

I hope this just gives people an understanding of how alot of people here view drow. Those players that would like to play against the stereotype are most welcome to, however reading this may give you an insite as to why other players react the way they do IC.

When there is no other way, the perilous path is the only road to salvation.
