This makes me itch to want to go on a grief-tastic rampage against all drow.
I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.

Hurray for Me!

Topic titles are like turn signals. They aren't for your benefit, but for the people around you.

Until now I only created two characters. One was a Chaotic Good and the other a Neutral Good.

Possibly I will create a chaotic neutral as soon as the server is up. :)

Richo Jackman is Chaotic Neutral with deep evil tendancies toward Drow.

My other character which I will be playing is going to be Lawful Evil.

I've never been much for playing good characters. While I'm fully capable of doing so I think evil characters have so much more flavor to them.

Unless the character I am choosing has an alignment restriction, I tend begin any game Neutral.

I like to let the campaign influence my characters, rather than begin with pre-concieved notions. The ethics and morality of Cear seems to be pre-dominantly LN, LE, and NE from what I can gather.

It will be interesting to see what influences my character first: The overabundance of laws; the seeming acceptance of Demonkin and Drow; The overflow of petty crime; or perhaps my character will take the quick and easy route to make a few coins: Murder. Then again, Marie in the temple seems very kind. Maybe not everyone is so cruel.

So many intrigues. How does a common man stay true to himself in the face of so much selfish ambition?

I amazed that a lot of you RP vets can keep up on the whole background history and actions of your characters. I tend to hear a lot "Just do what your character would do". But then the rationalization kicks in and I am thinking to myself "How the hell do I know what my character would do? He is a toon in a game...."

I guess that comes with time. :?

Its not easy in all honesty, but as you get to know a character, that character almost takes on a life of their own. Backstory is the first step to this, but realize that characters can and will be affected by other player characters.

I can think of many, many very dynamic characters who grew as the campaign progressed, became more, or less, were betrayed, and trusted... it becomes facinating and complex, simple, and wonderful.

You'll get the hang of it, most who are here eventually do.

Just like any relationship, Kaz: You have to take the time to get to know your character. Just because you rolled him up doesn't mean you know him. Yet.

Morals and ethics (Alignment) are something that develope and change, in relation to the world around us, depending on what is is we want out of life. Treating a character in this manner is one of the fundamentals of role-playing.

What is it that our characters' want? Power? Wealth? Respect of others? A home and family? It is a brutal and violent age where life can be very short. That affects our decisions, too.

Alignment is the 'psychology' of our characters. I enjoy this game mechanic because it is one of the only games I have played that lends this changable personality trait to the personas we are portraying. Alignment changes them from being toons to being literary characters. The simple video game becomes fiction, but the story isn't pre-determined, like in a book or movie.

I could go on and on, so I won't. Have fun!
