How about a little more lore. There are races I feel we need to know how the staff sees fitting into Das. Specificly the dwarves and the drow. I realize it's primarly a human world but we have info on the elves with Rain but we're left woundering about other races. I know in another thread it's expressed that we just don't know enough about the Das drow to know how they should react to certan things and with the Ironbacks it's clear that the dwarves can be there to play a mjor role as well so how about it. How do these races fit into the history of the world? What is the history of thier race? what customs cary over? Do they have thier own areas like Rain and if so what is it like? What are thier primary gods? Plus any thing else you might feel we need to know about those races.

Someone said it before, but I would like to second, third, fourth and fifth
it - I'd like to see Palemoon brought back. The quest was a blast, usually
you could do it around level 10-13 or so.. but with a group. It was one of
the few quests, other than Koa'lisks (which I would also like to see back),
that a group, I think, was absolutely necessary for.
I can't imagine that Koa'lisks wouldn't have dens around here, or in
Varanite territory at all.

It would take another 10 years before what remained of Dasaria eventually fell to the Varanite Claw. The Vokk were able to maintain control of the once Shai lands, while the Gnarf clan was eradicated by Koalisk who no longer were kept in check by wandering adventurers. The Magnus Order, known to Dasarian minds as the Ji ‘Lyn were able to spread their number in this new dawn of Varana, and pushed back the Koalisk threat to the swamps. Aligning the lizard folk in uneasy treaties, in no small part to manipulative magic cast in rituals. Marcus took many of this magical order as his advisors, who told him of a new threat to his power, the priests of false gods. Marcus was loved by the people, fear by his enemies, and held wealth and power like none other. But he was still the second son of the Varanite Empire.

Ok, at Hannah's request, in the next few weeks we will have a complete character and item wipe before starting the campaign. You all have Hannah to thank, so thank her well.
yes I am joking, or am I? And yes I just killed a kitten Eve.

Here are some good sources on Elves. Hey, wouldn't it be great if someone created some books along these lines?Blackthorn wrote:How about a little more lore. There are races I feel we need to know how the staff sees fitting into Das. The Rian Treaty
The Elves of Dasaria: An Introduction
A former player has drafted up some good stuff on the Dwarves, unfortunately it needs a little cleaning up. Lemme see if he is willing to have someone else work on it; I would be looking for a volunteer and it would still need to come to the DM team for review though.

Why don't you describe for us the salient features of this quest that differentiated it from others? Perhaps there is license to incorporate some of these aspects into future quests while moving forward with new tales & stories.Vahene wrote:Someone said it before, but I would like to second, third, fourth and fifth

I'd like to see more of the elements in the established lore actually being a factor. Be it heretics, the Magnus order, the local government, etc.
I'd also like to see less 'alienation' of Dasaria as a state -- it's only been 50 years. It can't be entirely gone and proclaimed Varana and thus accepted entirely by the population. I'm not suggesting everyone's a rebel or a heretic, but the oppression of Varana upon Dasaria is... not really felt.

I remember when the bare mention of Claw in the first mod would make
some of us practically pee our pants. Even for a level 20 character, it
wasn't something to spread around. I'd like to see the fear of the Talon,
Claw, Magnus, et al, increased. Now, I'm not entirely sure how to do this,
but, I thought I would agree.

There were many different things you had to accomplish in order to
achieve the final goal of beating the 'big bad'. In fact, there were several
different levels of 'big bads' depending on what part of the quest you
were accomplishing. In one area you had a medusa-type chick who had
this wicked stone gaze (that drove my warrior nuts because of a low will
check), and she had a key used to unlock the next step of the quest.
That part of the quest increased with more difficulty, adding nyar and
other creatures (pretty much they looked like formians - I know I'm
probably spelling that wrong but I'm at work and I can't look it up).
There was a dragon (a little dragon, nothing like the experience of the
Varanite caves near Daris which had Raven inside), and also "good"
and "bad" endings. If you explored enough, there was an option to do
the right thing.
I'm trying to be vague in case anyone wants to hop onto the first server
(assuming that's still possible) and go through the quest. The Palemoon
quest started one heck of a player-driver storyline regarding
the "moonstones" belonging to Anshar (the entire Island had Ansharian
lore behind it). The posts are probably still over on the original Das 1
boards. There were a lot of us involved in that particular storyline.
Some of the features I liked were that you had a large area that you
could hunt and solo (outside the main quest areas), if you wanted to with
the nyar and gorgons as well as a few spiders, etc. You also could go as
far as you wanted in the quest - there was a boat ride with several
beautifully scripted screens that took you from Daris the village to the
Palemoon ruins on Palemoon Isle.
As for the koa'lisks - and in response to Eve .. I would imagine that even
in Varana, swamps exist. I imagine they could have cousins.
