Tell me (Like-to-see 2 Months out)

Post by Wired »

What would you like to see in Das2, say 2 months out?

Any strong desires or brilliant ideas out there? Be realistic (e.g., no HAKs or heavy custom content, rewriting the game engine, etc.)

1. A starting area for new players at the docks (as if just arriving by sea, and assuming the docks will be there eventually which they will).

2. An OOC starting area for existing chars where you can choose to spawn at your last location or choose between T&C or Misty.

3. Walkable rooftops with "jump points" where you can click an object on the roof to initiate a jump to the next roof. Based on reflex and dexterity rolls.

*Excuse me I am chuckling to myself imagining a rogue hoping from one roof to another and a heavy armored guard falling into the alley in his heavy armor.*

4. Enliven the market outside the buck Inn by adding some merchant NPCs as well as rent-able NPC player stores.

-Riddles. Maybe a quest that is mostly riddle solving, leading from one clue to another.

-More alchemy recipies. Poisons, potions, ect ect... I'd like to be able to brew my own troll skin potions, and frankly i'd like to get at least something out of my alchemy skill.

The bank and permits are both great and is great proof that you guys have made it possible to store information across server resets. Great!

Which leads me to some unfinished ideas which I think would add dynamics to Dasaria. These are very loose ideas:

We could have different spots around Dasaria which when touched you can those to claim for a certain faction. Or even better when touched then if you have a faction item on you, you can claim that spot/building/powermarker for your faction.

Each spot would only be allowed to be controlled by certain factions, and some would overlap. Example:

1. Thieves:
Warehouse nr.1, Buck Inn, Ally nr.3

2. Merchants:
Warehouse nr.1, Pier nr.4, Warehouse nr. 2

3. The Fleet
Bandits area, Alley nr.3, Alley nr.5

We would be able to alter the constellation of certain variables in Dasaria are, depending on player actions.

There could then be billboards around town saying things like rumors and stuff;

"Rumor has it that 'The thieves guild' is loosing territory to 'The Wannabe Thieves Guild'"
or
"The Grey company is the behind all skin trade in Cear, but not in Thralls gate"

Well, you think of some better ones ;) But I think it would make Dasaria more dynamic and would add to RP also. And some of the spot you can claim could be areas of "If you enter here it is allowed to attack you on spot without warning and no matter level". That way a low-level could dare to wait and sneak in to and claim such a spot for his faction. Or he would need to get into a party because that spot is guarded by another faction. And so on.

I hope you get the idea. In the database I guess it would be something like a yes/no-result, when looking at 'Buck Inn' and the parameter 'Thieves guild'. I dunno :)

*blink, blink* We have a bank?

*clears throat, looking embarassed* God, I need to log in more. I never
really realized how well school is thumping me this quarter. Eek.

What would I like to see (within reason)?

1. More areas that are able to be soloed for levels 5-10. For certain
time zones, or for folks like me that simply have really odd times they
can log on, it isn't always possible to find someone to group with. I'm not
mentioning this to completely derail the thread, so if someone has the
urge to do so, please start another thread. (Yes, I'll keep asking for it.)

2. Profession specific quests for all levels. If you are a rogue, you
might run quests for a certain shady halfling in T & C or if you are a
mage, perhaps you run quests for the herbalist or for the charms gal.

Perhaps these could tie into other quests, which would be available if you
take a certain PrC, such as Palemaster, Eldritch Knight or RDD for mages,
or Assassins, Arcane Tricksters, etc. for rogues. To make these not
abusable for the PrC's, require that someone have 5 levels minimum to
run the PrC quests.

These don't need to be tied to a specific faction, but perhaps have the
rogue quests tied to the Kalem or the mage quests tied to one of the man
universities supposedly in Cear. Something like that.

3. On a more shameless note ... *coughs* a temple to some of the
other Gods in the pantheon
. I'm not saying convert one of the
buildings in T & C to a blatant Temple for Culnul (although there are those
of us that wouldn't mind as much to have one to Culnul)... but there are
buildings in T & C as an example that have space and absolutely nothing
inside of them.

More soloable areas is a big one.

just forget the new areas for a second and make new stuff to the existing ones. I'd love to see more quests taking place in trades and commons.

Oh, and we need trash bins to thralls gate. Using the bookshelves in the temple of lochwar as garbage bins is getting tiresome  .

I'd like to see is more crafting recipies too. There shouldn't be anything that isn't craftable. Like staves with spells per day, to make my warlock feel more like a mage. Regeneration equipment would be something i'd like to see too. And ability boosts that are greater than +1. I'd pay lots of crowns to get my hands on a nymph cloak +4 or maybe even +5. Or +6.

Some kind of a public library would be nice too. It could then be slowly filled with player submitted books and stuff.

And what ever you do, don't put instant death spells in it. Instant death spells suck.

Instant death spells in the public library? That's a great idea!

In case you didn't know:

* Craft Wondrous Item went in last week, you may now craft magic items
* A rogue-centric quest went in last week
* There is a new temple to Tharon in T&C
* The Tharon quest and Bandersnatches are soloable (though require high-level characters)
* Yes, there is a bank with persistent gold and item storage
* I'm looking for players who want to contribute books. I wanted stuff about Tharon, but it could be something else.

Otherwise, keep it coming!

i have to agree.. letting factions carve up the city would be good.. kinda like in GTA SA and such you know?
Get an area.. get a small income..get to invest it in things and so on.. maybe get items out of it.

Aside from that.. the city needs more in it.. more houses.. more quests. Definatly need more dialog skill usage. Right now its pretty much useless as a skill..

I'll think of some more to add later..

soloable areas is a good thing, not too many people on when I jump in :)

I loved the Palemoon quest from Das1 like alot of other people I think. It took some time to complete and could be done by well just about anything other than rogues ;p If something like this could be added and be made longer perhaps making the quest points survive server rests as well would be great.

I think this area was great because lower level chars needed a small party and higher levels could solo it.

I second the idea of allowing people to select alternate spawn points, such as the tavern at Aucklorne Mill, the Buck, perhaps the Church of Lochwar for Minuvas and company, Fleet HQ for the Fleetsmen, maybe a cave and/or the gaol for outlaws, etc.

I also second the idea of adding churches for the many other deities, though some might be more hidden than others.

Other ideas (some fraction of which might be doable in 2 months):

A vampire (or whatever) NPC you can visit to de-level.

More quests that have persistent or semi-persistent ramifications. Not just things like NPCs remembering that you helped or hurt them, but what about catching lycanthropy and involuntary transforming at night into an uncontrollable killing/lycanthropy-spreading creature until you are cured.

A less-random way to obtain crafting components, such as a haunted mine, killing a certain type of creature, quests, a store, etc. Obviously, these should be scaled in difficulty/rarity as the value of the component increases.

Persistent storage, crafting benches/supplies, and so on outside Caer for those who incur the disfavor of the empire.

An island.

An underground city/village with merchants, quests, and so on like Aucklorn Mill, but where non-humans (dwarves, gnomes, drow, etc.) run the show.

A forest city/village, but with elves, halflings, half-orcs and so on.

Party vs party matches in the arena.

Random encounters with NPCs in the cities, such as meeting a thief in an alley, or a corrupt guard on the street. These might even initiate quests.

Random encounters along the roads, such as when travelling from one area to the next and being accosted by wolves, or brigands, or a travelling merchant, or whatever. These might even initiate quests, such as saving an NPC or retrieving a stolen object, etc.
