I do believe I helped you get started with a basic enchant back towards the end of February. From that basic enchant you should have been able to figure out least 5 other enchants with little effort.

And my enchanter is Eldia^^

Randomyze: I did warmly thank you for the +1 weapon recipe and it was appreciated.

I'm certainly not ungrateful. It just seems ridiculous that the only recipe that I have after more than 2 months of searching (100's of game hours) is for an item that is readily available at Ealden the Smith. I want to craft items that are NOT available at the local shops or at least items that have some value. Why craft at all if I, or anyone, can go to a shop and buy the item for less trouble than it takes to make? A wizard spell will give me a better enhancement than +1.

An 11th Level crafter who finally gets a +1 recipe is as silly as an 11th level fighter who never had a weapon being tossed a dagger and being told to be content with it. That's how I felt anyway by your reply.

As for the other 5 items that can be made from the recipe - I don't have a clue as to what they might be. I'm not sure what you mean when you say I "should" have been able to make them. How so? There are no obvious substitutes ( I did try changing the gems and spells with others but it only ever resulted in the message "that is not a valid recipe"). Perhaps in retrospect it seems clear to you, but to me with only 1 recipe it is not. I can imagine that when you have a few recipes there is probably some rhyme and reason as to how they are constructed. However, with only the one - it's imposable to discern a pattern. Some how I feel pretty confident that you yourself must have had more help in learning to craft magical enhancements than only a +1 weapon recipe. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I am neither stupid nor lazy if that is what you were implying when you suggested that I should have been able to make 5 more. I can't even imagine what the 5 enhancements might be (as this world is limitied to a max +3) yet alone the ingredients/spells involved.

I'm also not looking for recipes to use in the OC. I am looking for recipes that I can use here in Dasaria.

I have been PM'd that the head of the Crafter's Guild may return soon and that would truly be a godsend if it should happen. I will definitely keep my eyes open and my fingers crossed!

I don't have much to help you, but I only to say, "I feel your pain," I guess. This has been a point of contention for a really long time. I haven't even tried to do it because I felt it to be unnecessarily tedious. Marco and Bodok spent ungodly amounts of time figuring out the recipes.

I agree the system creates some unique RP possibilities, but in our current state, those are limited. Quests to unlock recipes based on feats and skill requirements (along with ways for rogue-ish types possibly to finagle the recipes for sale) would be fun.

You have a formula, I know its hard but you do have it. I was given that same recipe and managed a while back to figure out 5 more from the exact information I gave you. Its all logical, just create a system to figure it out.

Randomyze,

You're mistaken if you believe having only 1 recipe constitutes a formula. If I did indeed have a formula, I wouldn't be here posting messages. I would be at a magical workbench happily experimenting with the good probability of creating something. I would guess that if you discovered 5 permutations of the +1 recipe you gave me, it wasn't the only recipe you had knowledge of. Perhaps your other background information played a role in helping you to discern a formula?

It takes two dots on a piece of paper to form a line and three to confirm a pattern. The only information I can gather from having a single recipe is that I need a gem, a spell, and an essence. The recipe reveals nothing more than that. Again with all the spells, gems, and various ingredients found in the game, there are literally millions of combinations possible that only a hundred of which will actually produce an item.

If this is the only method to find recipes in this game, then I'd rather spend my time playing the lottery than sitting in front of my desktop waiting for my timer to run out so that I can rest, memorize and try yet another spell on a random gem or essence. This is what your recommendation amounts to.

If truly your repertoire of magical enhancements was all gleaned from being given merely one +1 magical enhancement recipe with no further help or knowledge, then you are quite the genius or have been incredibly lucky beating all odds in your experimentation. Bravo for you. I on the other hand have not been so fortunate.

I don't wish to argue this point anymore. I came here looking for help. If anyone can, I will be grateful. I will not continue to defend myself for not understanding the unique crafting system here in Dasaria with only having a single +1 item recipe that I received at level 11 after much searching. If it was that simple and obvious, then why was the defunct crafter's guild created in the first place, its members sworn to secrecy and these secret recipes so covetly hoarded?

I will confine any further posts to this thread to thanks yous or updates that might help other players. I will also try to accept the fact that crafting magical enhancements is not a skill open to all here in Dasaria at this time and focus my energy elsewhere. - Promise to me ;-)

Nobody is attacking you, there is no need to defend yourself.

As has been suggested before, you should look around for crafting hint books. If your luck is on the low and you can't happen to get them from dungeon loot, well, you could always post a request to buy them in the marketplace, or perhaps you can travel to that previously mentioned 'most distant merchant from Cear'. The recipes, I assure you, are not all completely random, and there is a method to the madness. You just have to figure it out. Everyone before you has had to, as well.

And as I said before, Hyel would be willing to let you see his numerous crafting books, if you interact and preferably donate something to his cause (Such as maybe making an entire suit (Body, helm, gloves, and boots) of armour, and donating that to his cause would be entirely favourable and give you early access to some of the books).

If I were you, Lapis, I'd arrange with some of these folks here in the thread to meet ICly and RP a bit. Probably the best way of making headway on these recipes. Unless you're very lucky, or very persistent, you will probably need to RP a bit to figure these things out. The system is designed that way.

But I will say this, there is a formula for it, and with some thinking, RP, and experimentation you will make some progress.

But I can stress it enough — get in touch with those you know IG that are familiar with these recipes. Accept an apprenticeship, become friends, exchange information, goods, etcetera; whatever works. :D

It seems there are plenty who are willing to help.

Alternatively, if one of you guys who knows the recipes need some money..

Organize an IC course of crafting. Have a crafting class, 5000gp per lesson or what have you :p

Pretty sure I beat this topic to death once upon a time. Ill try and find you IG to share what I know. But good luck trying to find them by trial and error. Most of the crafting folk fail to mention the neccessity of DM help to find the original recipes :)

Whatever hint Shorn suggests was provided to start the initial crafters' research efforts was far more minimal than what is currently available via IC books. As Randomyze has mentioned (repeatedly) what you need to figure out the crafting recipes is a logical system and some record keeping (i.e., to avoid duplicating efforts). Eventually you will figure out the basic parameters of the system. While I expect the OPs claim of having spent 100s of hours trying combinations is an exaggeration, that person SHOULD expect to spend a few dozen hours figuring it out. If that's not worth your while, then you will have to find a mentor IG who will teach you the basics. This would be an excellent opportunity to stretch your RPing muscles and learn how to accomplish your objectives in Das2.

At this point in the game world's evolution (i.e., when a number of characters KNOW recipes) coming here to complain about your failed attempts to advance your character's crafting smacks of laziness or lack of previously mentioned logical approach.

I would expect and hope that nobody would satisfy your hunger for crafting knowledge (OOC) by posting any details here.

Actually, this had happened before, during a complete lack of crafters on the server from the old group, resulting in NO knowledge on the subject. Several people spent at least half a month trying to find recipes to no avail, including, oddly, some recipes which I know to work which for them did not work, despite having used the correct formula, and having the required feats, but later worked for another player. I would also add that yes, in retrospect, it is completely logical for you, as hindsight is, of course, 20/20. However, to the new player, how are they to deduce that it requires a gem or a plant, that mithril requires different recipes than iron. Yes, some deduction will tell you that +3 is not CMA and A, like in the campaign, but instead is merely armor crafting. Yes, you can deduce that, but it is not glaringly obvious.

So, I stand on the statement that in retrospect, of course it is logical. That doesnt seem to be helping our new player, however, who has, I might point out, followed in the footsteps of some older players, and by proxy, you are also calling them lazy.

However, in addition to this, I would point out that I have absolutely no knowledge of what the IG books tell you...so alternatively, you might just bit a bit daft, and its all in there...Not something within my knowledge to answer, I just have this thing about talking down to new players, and saying sorry, you should spend hours of time on it. Again, I could be way off the mark.

I agree. Discussion on the boards should maintain a healthy, contructive and positive atmosphere for new and old people alike. The OP has said that they do not wish to talk about it any longer so any further comment really shouldn't be addressed to them anyway.

I will say from reading some of the posts on this thread that it does seem that people in the community have offered their assistance and tried to be helpful.

Not having a crafting character myself, I haven't actually penetrated the knowledge of the books I have on crafting. So I wonder, how do the books work? Do you have to have a specific rank in a crafting skill, or specific feats before you can read the knowledge out of the books? As far as I have seen, I can't read the crafting books, so does anyone know how they work?
