Potions

Post by happydictates »

Is there a any plan to put a timer on potion use. IE a heal potion can only be used once every 20 seconds or so. Is this even possible? From my experience in PvP so far, it appears the winner is going to be the person who stocks up on the most heal potions.

Ya I, as a healer, find that annoying as well. Clerics and healers lose their total purpose in a party. Even buffing can be bought with potions.

Even though I'd be directly affected by the healing potions (guilty as charged), I'd second the vote on nerfing the healing potions.

I can vouch for the whole "pots make clerics feel useless" arguement... It's not true.

Will is always wondering why people are dying instead of carrying the useful drinks. And if they're carrying them, what are they waiting for? You're dying! Save yourself! I just tripped on this bugbear's head! Grayle's cutting off their limbs! I can't get to you! You're gonna die! Buy some pots, man! Drink it! Use 'em!

I have to say.. If its not a wand of cure X then its not as good as a cleric :D

I can't say why you guys feel marginalized.. i love clerics that heal, means i dont have to PAY anything :D

Also potions save your life when your being wailed on and the Cleric is busy healing up other people :)

My cleric always wasted her heals. They would finally go off right after someone drank a cure crit potion and didn't need it anymore. I never could get the hang of healing timing in NWN.

On the other hand, you were amazing in ShadowBane.

They call them Porta-Priests for a reason people. Sides, I don't need to buy them. I "pick" them up around town.

If I HAVE potions I tend to buy 2nd best quality, ones that heal 25% of my health. And If I have potions I try to use them when I'm at 50% health to minimize the amount of wasted heals from clerics.

I've played in several servers where you HAVE to spend practically all your money on potions to survive. Sometimes it seems like you don't even need potions in Dasaria. I think the difficulty of stuff after the bears/wolves could use some turning up, but that's simply a personal preference. May not be everybodies.

And in all those servers, never were clerics maginalized. However, I think that healing kits could do with being lighter, it's pretty hard to be a good healer with healing kits if to heal someone a few times occupies 20 pounds or more.

I think healing kits should not be usable in combat in their current form...they are really overpowered if you think about it.

If a bleeding system is ever implemented, then they should be usable on bleeding party members, and have limited functionality (only stabilizes and/or brings them to 1 hp).

Potions are fine as is...if you drink them in combat you give enemy combatants free AoO's. That is the way to balance them. Healing kits do not give AoO's and automatically heal for 20 + heal skill....even while in combat. That's broken.

Heal skill doesn't work this way as per PnP.

I'm pretty sure in combat healing only heals at a 20 out of combat. In combat it goes by the following:

1-20 PLUS Healing Kit Level PLUS Heal Skill

Healkits ignoring AoO's in combat is pretty retarded, imo.
It's non-combat action and should provoke AoO.
(Not to mention that kits shouldn't even heal hitpoints, just stabilize dying or help recovering from poison/disease)
