I recently modified the in-game login menu to save a few clicks when I'm logging onto Dasaria and thought I'd share. Clicking the
Dasaria II button will bring you straight to the Character Creation/Selection screen of the Dasaria server.
All it really does is save a few clicks, and bypasses the following screens as opposed to clicking
Sign In:
- Confirm that the Authentication servers are still down
- Select Direct Connect or Join Internet Game
- Selecting OK on the Direct Connect screen or browsing to Dasaria II on the GameSpy menu
To install, save the following links directly to the NWN2 folder shown below. Do not try to open it in a Web Browser since NWN2 xml encoding is far from standard. Players with no expansions will of course only need the first file. Players with the expansions will need all three, since for some unknown reason NWN2 uses the base No Expansion menu when you click
Cancel in-game to return to the Main Menu.

My Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\UI\custom\
Anyone using a Macintosh to play NWN2 may find that placing the files in your UI\Custom directory does not work. If this is the case, browse to your main installation directory and replace the files found there with these versions.

This is an action of last resort, and one should back up all affected files before attempting the overwrite.
