Dom Needs Tech Help

Hey everyone,

So over the past few months my CD drive or "superdrive" has been dying on my MacBookPro (13-inch, Mid 2010 Model). I was wondering if any of you techies knew how I could fix it, replace it, recommend an external CD player or even better...have a digital version of Mac NWN2 that doesn't require a Disk to run. I know the Apple store and everywhere suddenly stopped selling the Apple version of NWN2.
(ironically just when i started having this issue)

If anyone has any ideas and solutions please post them here. Even links to an external reader that I could buy. And if you have a digital version of Mac Nwn2 (no disk app) totally let me know and i'll get in touch.
(and please avoid the arse-hat comments about getting a PC...I get it)

Is there a mac version of NWN2 that has all of the expansions? I had been told only the original game was available.
(edit, that might just have been in the UK?)

If there is I, would be very happy to have a copy too whether it needed discs or not.

I have the expansions through clever means but I just need the program to start the game without the prompt for a disk.

Well considering nobody is really selling the game these days, and the master servers being down, I'd imagine using a game crack is the only option? Don't use Mac so don't know if cracking it is even an option.

Anyways, I looked up patches for the cd game and they work, but they downgrade the version of the game. Its a pain in the arse. Some others showed me an external cd drive if all else fails. I dont know crap about cracking. The only reason I have the expansions is through a VERY detailed means of doing so for the mac games, but still...ya know

Its a good link to have and if I skip out on the Mac versions I might just use an "emulator" (wine) for the pc versions of the game also.

If you could get an ISO image of the game, you probably could mount it on a virtual CD drive, with a program such as Daemon Tools. That shouldn't downgrade the version.

Is that clear enough, or do you need a more "for dummies" version?

Just asking, does the steam download include a Mac version or no?

It was until a month or two ago. It's like...when I do need something from the online stores the means to get it vanished haha. I think the rights expired or something. It vanished in all online stores

An option would be to download the full game for Mac (considering you already own the whole thing) and then replace the cd-key values of the downloaded game with your own. This can be done fairly easily, as it's just an .ini file which governs which keys the game uses for access.

The file is "nwncdkey.ini" (without quotes, of course) and it's located in the base game directory.

Right, that's basically my suggestion, and since it'd likely come with a crack, the image mounting stuff I mentioned may be unnecessary.

I mentioned that the NWN2 for mac is no longer being sold as of a month or two ago in all online mediums, sadly.
Was the first thing I looked for.
