Bleeding - doesn't work

Post by Grayle »

I'm sure this is another Obsidian issue...

But is the 0 to -10 hit point mechanic even in the game? I have not yet seen a bleeding character.

Yeah, it wasn't in nwn1, but a great many servers employed ways to make it so... Would be nice to get it on nwn2 also.

Rift Draven; not so friendly dual axe wielding ranger.
Kagurd Bloodgrip; friendly and rather intelligent half-orc warrior.

Interesting. I know this was implemented in Dasaria 1, but I had no idea it was custom to our campaign.

Another example of Dasaria's fine attention to detail. Let's hope this mechanic returns one of these days.

Thanks for the replies.

I believe this was made as a part of the Hardcore ruleset in NWN. Most roleplay servers implemented this system to some degree.

But yes, it was a community project.

The reason this isn't implemented now is actually Obsidian's fault. There is an animation bug that you may have seen already, actually. All of the scripts that make the character lie down to bleed are affected by this bug which makes the character appear to stand up in the ready stance. You might see this happen to wolves when they sleep or are dazed for more than one round.

yep what BR said is the case. We implemented the bleeding code, but instead of laying on the ground while bleeding or being dead, you stand there. Needless to say this was silly so we removed it before going live. This can be seen when sleep spells affect you. Same deal. We really love the bleeding rule and will certainly implement it when we have the mechanics in the game to do so.

Fantastic. It would definately improve a healer's usefulness and the Heal skill. I figured an Obsidian bug had to be involved, somehow.

Thanks Jeh.

The Grim's Tavern server have implemented such a system. I am not sure how they did it, but at least you have the bleed effect without any bugs.

There's a few servers with makeshift bleeding rules, but it's probably best to wait till the HCR community works something out. They have people work soley on issues like this and more.

I am happy that it is instant death. I hate dying with 0 hitpoints and waiting 5 minutes to die properly..

But it is nice the few times you are lucky. ;)

The problem with the Grim Tavern's method is that you don't really get a penalty for dieing in the first place. On Dasaria, such an implementation of bleeding would be very useful. Espiecally with such steep penalties as you get higher in level/get more money.

when you hit 0 you could respawn but you could also be healed if you were above -11, and res spell would work to -21 (i think). Something like that anyway
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologise
