Overwhelmed

Post by skyde »

...in a good way! :)

I spent most of yesterday playing on the server (really my first day playing) and near the end of the day I had accomplished quite a bit. The world is rich and has an even richer backstory!

Now I'd like to know are there any ig organizations one can join at some point? Either dm or player controlled? Or are these still being planned?
Or are all people just citizens and heroes in the making aka adventurers?

There are a few player driven groups that are active on the server right now. They are very much in-character groups and you will need to find them on your own in the game.

Also there are some organizations affiliated with the city itself. It shouldnt be too hard to sniff those out.

I dont want to spoil the fun of exploration for you. We are very glad you are enjoying yourself. That is the intent!

Overwhelmed was the exact same word I used, more than once, while exploring the city and surrounding areas. Lots to do and see. I, too, would like to sniff out the various organizations that exist IG. Playing is always more fun with a group!

A woman in Cearian Guard uniform pauses on her way back to the Mistyvale inn, her eyes underlined with clear signs of weariness.

"All citizens willing to serve the City are welcome to join the City Guard... however unrewarding financially such a proposition is in comparison to adventuring, it offers the fulfillment coming from a job well done and service performed benefiting the entire populace. Feel free to ask me at any point... just not right now, please. I need to get some sleep..."

All of us have been there :)

I guess everyone felt lost after joining the server for the first time ;-)

I guess I'm going to feel that way once more - - my new comp just arrived so I'll be able to join after a month ! :)

I don't know.

On one hand, nobody threw anything at me yet, or chased me out.

But then, people keep tossing insults my way that I so totally do not deserve. And when I try to help out, it ends up with more insults.

Some good haul around this place, though, except kind of hard to get to it without a good crew.

And people are completely stuck up on the whole Tiefling Thief issue. Seriously, we have other hobbies, you know? And better means of committing suicide.

I mean, get real! Like I would go and give all you whackos a reason to chase me with sharp things for something I can easily pilfer, without any other problems than some traps and monsters, from some old place? And then actually... you know. Be able to sell it for a decent price to a merchant?

For a place with a University, you lot are real dumb.

Eh, guess it's better than most, though. I mean... yeah. I can live with the insults, just wait who laughs last when I get to the stuff that would otherwise blow up in your face because you are too good to hang around somebody ancestrally challenged.

I wanted to touch on this really fast.

If you play a Tiefling or a Drow, you need to expect to be insulted. You will not only be insulted, you will be treated differently, you will be hated, despised, and outright screamed at by most of the server population that knows the history of Drow and Tieflings in Dasaria (or Varana as the case may be). Both races have a LONG history, and it isn't a favorable one.

It isn't that people equate Tieflings with Thieves.. its the fact you have freaking horns, and have the blood of a demon rolling through your veins. Drow aren't liked either, and anyone playing one, hopefully, know this, and if they don't, they learn really fast.

Hey, speak for yourself missy.

I keep on getting accused of being a thief, all right?

Don't tell me what happens in my life.

Not everybody's got a bunch of sugar daddies to take care of them. Some of us have to work among the unwashed masses.

((Did I mention I like staying in character?

Ew, yes. Don't remind me. The lowly living can be such a horror to be amongst when considered that. I hear and pity you. From me to you; my sentiment.

Dasaria has always seemed 'very big' to me. Dasaria 1 had a pretty large amount of places to visit for all levels, but the player skill, event depth and all the great lore associated with it made the campaign seem very much bigger, more all-encompassing.

Both players and the staff were responsible for making Dasaria 1 seem such an 'epic' story. I can only imagine Dasaria 2 being even better. There are already so many newcomers(To Das, not necesssarily rpgs) that have caught on to Dasaria's very compelling style of play.

I hope you'll end up being encouraged by the scope of this campaign. There's alot of freedom to create whatever sort of personal story/goal that you want. Just make it happen.

Have fun.

Hi Chia,

I'm very new here, and for a moment I couldn't tell if you were 'having a go' at people, or just being in character (IC).

The problem with being IC in the OOC part of the forum is that people can jump to the wrong conclusions, especially new people like myself who don't really know you or the world

I'm not sure what the standard is in Dasaria, but I've seen in other PW forums that any IC comments which are outside of the roleplaying area of the forums are prefixed with the letter 'IC'

i.e. IC: You think just because I'm a Tiefling you can can insult me! well I've got news for you...

Using the IC standard just makes things very clear for newbies like myself, and who knows some others may actually join in! I certainly remember that the in-forum roleplaying can often be as fun as the game istself!

So please take this as a suggestion, not a criticism, and I look forward to meeting you in game :)

Sometimes when I read dasarian's posts I get the feeling that the game facts get mixed up with reality by some of you ...

Don't get so excited, it's a general discussion forum here - - it's not you who's being insulted all the time. Its your charcter.

Best regards
Al.

1) Ok, I edited my post right away - I realised it was too aggresive.

Still, it's quite strange ( for me ofc) that some ppl try to rp on general discussion forums without marking it properly. I agree with SnorriHT that it should be outlined.

2) We've got "meanwhile in Dasaria" section and "Tales and stories" don't we ?

3) Stormrunner - actually I was waiting for Chia's response - not your. I think my post did not concern you. Thank you for your interest ^^ though!

I take it as a rule. Rules should be respected. In conclusion - it's IC that should be marked , not the OOC [ on this forum ofc]

Thanks,
Al.
