Simple Class Poll

Post by Remy Overhead »

I've been playing off and on for quite awhile, and seeing as that I find dying to be quite a common occurrence these days I'd like to see the player makeup of the server. I'm looking to make a character that doesn't die as common as it seems all my characters do no matter what he does, Solo or in a group. I've found that every encounter that my characters tend to get into that yield any kind of experience or reward ends up with losing half or more the reward in death penalties. It's really not that fun. Now I've played every type of class except cleric based ones so I might be biased in that regard when it comes to my playing experience heh. So if you could vote and or leave a tidbit that'd be great! Thanks for all your input in advance guys/gals.

I myself am a ranger, and I play as such. That being said, I often find it extremely difficult to survive most encounters, and some are simply impossible, yet are classified as anywhere between 'easy' to 'challenging' difficulty.

Dex melee. I have a few levels of rogue, fighter, ranger and a PRC, all intended for a melee dex "fighter".

I play half and half arcane and dex based, of my three characters, one is a pure wizard, one is mostly dex based rogue, and one is a dex based rogue/warlock. Although I do find those with spellcasting to be the most fun.

I've played all those types to level 18, except the arcane caster. I haven't played an arcane caster at all.

I currently play a rogue who has made it to 13th level. Always played with a group with two clerics so at least one is usually there to rez the fallen. He also has no compunction to running away. :D

I also have a warlock at 20 level that I rarely play anymore. Very effective with a party but alone... not so much.

I Play only one toons no more! And im Ranger (10) but also fighter (8) so maybe i can defends my self (i really hope so ;-)).
Reason why have only one toos is for there is enouhg work to me play one character and maybe someday when i cant do nothing more with this toon i start new one (who nows?). My playing is not so hard RP but i "get away" those who want do it so i try to take part in that too. One reason is maybe whe there when RP need quick actions to write in conversation and to me when this in not my "mother language" in need more time to write. So im usually the quiet one, but my swords is quick ;-)
So go easy with me when RP because im learning all the time.

I think melee classes do better at earlier levels and often casters do better later on. What I think new players (not necessarily you) miss is that some of these quests require tactics and strategy to get through. The more party-oriented places can't be finished by running in and hacking away at all the bad guys. This is one of the things I like most about Dasaria and what makes it better than other servers.

Sometimes being with a party makes a dungeon harder because you have to coordinate your tactics with others. But when you find a good group of players who work together to make it through, it makes the experience all that much more enjoyable.

I've fiddled around with all those classes. My main (and only high level character), however, is a sorcerer. That said, when you look at him and see how I play him he's kinda a hybrid between a dex-based combatant and a old fashioned blaster sorc.

Somehow, despite the fact it shouldn't work, it does. The trick is in spell selection, you have to know exactly what spells and the balance between buffs and blasting, if you can strike it, which I think I've managed to, you're gold.

I have a Weapon Master (6)/Fighter (6)/Bard (2) [Edana] and a Cleric (11) [Vallyn]. Without groups, I doubt it would be easy to level either of them. One of the largest complaints I have is the inability to solo - but most, if not all, quests are group based and any effort on my part to change that has been met with a resounding 'no', so I've given up. To be honest, if it wasn't for the two or three groups that I regularly go to, I might not be playing at all. The lack of solo quests really, really irritates me.

Well i have a druid at lvl 15 and 90% was solo, elephant hide REALLY helps the solo survivability as does the animal companion. But i too get frustrated when i cant solo, Being from Australia most of the time im on there are 2 or 3 players on when i am. I had a dex based fighter rogue duelist which is up for deletion because its damage output and solo survivability is not good. On the other hand i have a lvl 11 fighter bard RDD frenzy beserker which is stalled at lvl 11 and needs a party to go any further, damage output is incredible but lack of AC from using a 2 hander means i get hit alot but it was quite easy to get to where it is again mostly solo.

I guess next up ill try a cleric with animal domain to get a companion maybe throw some fighter in for better wpn selection and tower shield. From what ive seen with my druid it should be quite soloable in most areas. The added punch against undead will surely help, as will the undead summoning line of spells - make your own 3 man party with the animal companion too.

Hope this helps
