Tobias lead the Constable to the area of the attacks and they went about killing bugs until clear the only lead being the direction the bugs were coming from as underground. They returned to the fleet headquarters where Tobias watched carefully as the Constable filled out his incident report and smiled when the constable wrote about the great skill Tobias had shown in combating the bugs.

"Escuse me Sir I have an idea, could you spare a few of them blank report forms for me to practise on whilst I get the bug guts washed from my clothes and armor?"

Tobias stands proud as he awaits an answer

After a few weeks Tobias returns to Constable Adam Kenholme at the Guardhouse steps up to the desk in clean armor, lays down a filled out application form the handwriting is easily readable but definetly lacks elequence.

"Constable Sir, I have been practising writing along with my usual training and have done pretty well as you will see by the properly filled out form infront of you, sorry it took so long the woman I was erhm staying with kept needing to use her desk and running out of ink didn't help"

Takes a brief pause whilst the constable reads the application and laughs at certain parts

"Am I to go to the barracks to collect my Uniform Sir, any current activities I should be made aware of Constable Sir?"

Tobias takes a step away from the desk and stands proud awaiting an answer

A female Neophyte in whirling red robes enters the Curelean fleet headquarters.

She bows before the commandant and deliver a letter, with the Church of Lochwar´s seal on it.

Upon raising from her bow she smiles and speaks:
Father Marrent Arghivius of the temple in thrall’s gate send his best wishes to the new station you have earned and trusts that the cooperation between these two pillars of truth and justice, The Curelean fleet and the Chruch of Lochwar, will continue to thrive and work relentlessly toward cleansing Cear and the surroundings of illegal elements.

Lochwar sends his blessing upon the faithful.

She bows and prepares to leave.

A corporal in his cerulean uniform approaches the board, and tacks up a large poster in brightly coloured ink. It reads:

APPLY TODAY - JOIN THE FLEET

Below it he nails another poster to the board.

Applying for the Fleet

The Cerulean Fleet is now actively recruiting!

There are a few keys things citizens will need to know should they wish to join the Cerulean Fleet, and there are a number of requirements in order for an application to be seriously considered.

At present time the Fleet is searching for able-bodied citizens, in good physical health, that are interested in a career in the enforcement of Imperial Law, and the naval defense of Cear's harbour and coastline.

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

As with any Imperial Military Agency (such as the Pike, Talon and Claw), there are some restrictions on allowable races within the Cerulean Fleet. At present time, the Fleet can only consider petitions from human, half-elf and elf applicants.

As with any case, exceptions have, and can be made for any applicant. Providing, however, that they meet all other criteria and be of outstanding character and potential.

OOC NOTE:

I'll be the first to hate bringing it OOC, but with a guard faction it must be done. First off, please PM all of your applications to this user account, and please use the aforementioned form.

Players wishing to create a guard for the Fleet, or have their pre-existing character join the Fleet, must be aware of a few things:
  • - PVP will occur as a member of this faction, and there is a good chance that you will not have a say in it occurring or not. You will be involved in PVP, sooner or later. If you have a problem engaging in PVP, this is not the faction for you.
    - Playing a guard can be stressful, but it is an incredibly rewarding experience. Know that sometimes you'll feel upset or frustrated.
    - Gaol Keys are a huge responsibility. Abuse of the gaol key will be met with steep consequences.
If you have any further questions regarding the Fleet, feel free to contact me through PM. I check my inbox frequently.

Stepping inside the Cerulean Fleet head quarters Father Arghivius smiles friendly toward the patrolling guards. Walking graciously across the hallway he seems to take a special note of the beautiful miniature ship decorating the centre of the room. The priest seems releaved to be inside the building but his fast breathing indicates that he came here in a hurry.

At the desk he halts and makes a polite bow before the Commodore.

“Commodore, I fear I bring you grim news about a wolf that has worn the hide of a sheep among us.”
He plucks a bit with a scroll he carries before continue.

“If the news has yet not reached you it is my heavy duty to inform you of the foul play that the Argentum Vigilo has played. Although I can not say how deep it goes I do know that the head of the body, Kadmiel Grewolf, is a traitor, murderer and heretic. We must be swift to maintain order Commodore. The people will look to the authority of the Fleet to maintain peace. I urge you to confirm to the authorities that Kadmiel Greywolf is to be declared an enemy of the state. I would also recommend a thorough investigation of those members of the Argentum Vigilo who will still claim to be true to the Empire. If pride keeps them from admitting their mistake in trusting Kadmiel we must make sure to learn that. Who knows what trustworthy citizens have revealed to this traitor?”

*Marrent offers the witness of the Varanite scout*

“He has failed to report to any of his superiors. He is preparing to vanish!” the priests eyes go wide.

“If we do not act swiftly he will reach his fellow peers and who knows what mischief he can cause from a secure location. Although you and your men will not leave Cear you bear the responsibility of and have the ear of the Provincial authorities. We need immediate action Commodore. As always, my temple stands ready to assist you in any way Commodore.”

A man dressed in glimmering mithril armor happened to pass the Fleethouse as Father Arghivius entered, stopping he follows the man in quietly. He does not say anything but nods politely to the Commodore as the priest rails. Finally the priest finishes and hands the report to the Commodore. Leaning forward, he quietly reads the report, shakes his head and turns to Marrent.

"THIS is the evidence you have, Marrent!?" Phelan's eyes flare angrily, and he forgets the usual formality he takes with the priest, "ONE eyewitness report that claims Kadmiel and his men killed a group of your priests?! It contains no record of what was said, merely what was done."

The sorcerer takes a deep breath, reigning in his anger, but his eyes burn.

"So for all you know, those priests could have been under the influence of Canas, or even not be priests, yet you flaunt this like it is the word of Lochwar himself. All it reveals is that these priests approached Kadmiel, threatened one of those with him, and he killed them. You use this to tarnish all of us?! What kind of fool are you Marrent, to think that the actions of ONE Knight, especially Kadmiel, are done with the knowledge and consent of us all? We are not some lowly group of acolytes who simply jump by the words of a priest. Technically speaking, Kadmiel is not even our leader, we have NONE, for we are ALL knights."

Turning to the Commodore, Phelan takes another deep breath.

"Commodore, two things for you. The first is that Kadmiel of Gulshire has been out of contact with the rest of the Vigilo for weeks now, and that we are presently trying to ascertain what has happened to him. He has often been known to go without reporting for long periods of time, this entire 'being out of contact and not reporting back' is nothing new for him, so we thought nothing of it until recently. Second, I request that you cite Father Arghivius for violation of Article 1, Section 11, paragraph 3, subparagraph 1 of the Imperial Law."

The knight looks between the two other men, his face hard.

Unable to stop the prying eyes of Phelan crawling over the scroll he holds out before the Commodore Marrent takes an astonished step away from him. Listening to his words his eyes widen and his mouth starts to form words of protests rather a few times. But until Phelan is finished he fails in producing much more then astonished sighs of disbelief.

When Phelan is finished he lets out a protest with a neutral voice.

“Sir Phelan. I am concerned with your lack of respect toward the clergy of the patron God of the Empire. I am fully aware of that there is a crime to act against the Imperial military forces. However” *he raises a finger and regains strength to his voice.*

“I am willing to submit myself to the laws if I am guilty. The military forces of the Emipre have my fullest support. But a deserter has lost every ounce of my and the Legions respect. It would have been an act of a criminal not to do the right thing."
You should be careful accusing me of such things and believe that I do not have a solid case. When did it become custom for Knights of the Heir to call the priests of Lochwar fools?”
The priest’s eyes narrow
Search your soul Sir Phelan, you must know that it has been a mistake to follow this knight, this traitor and heretic.”*The priest tilts his head casting an eye toward the commodore*
“Or do you mean to defend Kadmiel Greywolf and charge me of unrighteous accusations?”

“Surely, you are not thinking straight for the moment. Surely your own pride is getting in the way to see the truth here Sir Phelan.” *smoothing his robe he assumes a submissive position as he turns toward the desk one more time*

“I am of course just a simple priest. Let me feel the retribution of the Empire if my actions are false or unworthy. I stand ready.”

Phelan's eyes meet the Priest's, his eye the hard eyes of one who has faced ancient horrors and seen many around him fall, and taken the lives of hundreds himself. He does not waver, his eyes burning

"You call him a deserter and say that this one single report, from afar with no details of the conversation is proof of his treachery. For two days you have spoken, from your pulpit in Thrall's Gate, and here in the Streets of Cear against the Vigilo. Your words do not simply call for investigation, nor are they they words of one seeking truth, Marrent. Your words seek to turn people against all of us, against me, my kin, my allies. You rail against us all, using a single unverified report. If you truly cared about weeding out dissent and protecting the Princeps, you would be better served by bringing this information to the members of the military, the fleet. As it stands, your actions seem nothing more than a scheme to increase your influence and power, Priest of Trickery."

He paused, his eye going cold, almost distant.

"As I have already mentioned, it is not unheard of any in the Vigilo to be out of touch for periods of time. That is all this report indicates, not that Kadmiel has deserted. Further, you act with a swiftness that seems suspicious, before this news was relayed to the other Vigilo and even before the Tenth Legion could investigate this matter itself. You seek to rally the people against us accusing us of TREASON, Marrent, before any truth can be determined. You accuse US, who have stood at the very gates of this city protecting the people, of treason. Who trekked many long and dangerous miles opposed by Canites at every step to save the Princeps of corrupting him. You try and capitalize on a rumor, a bad report and for what? To discredit us? To increase your own influence and power?"

"I again repeat, we are investigating this matter internally, and will make a determination on the matter, under the auspicious of the 10th Legion. It is not a matter for the Church or the Fleet. However, Priest Marrent's words, repeated, in public, are most certainly in violation of Article 1, Section 11, paragraph 3, subparagraph 1 of the Imperial Law and I request that the matter be attended to."

Re: The District Guardhouse of the Fleet

Post by Torquil Lamond »

Torquil's eyes gleamed happily as Buchanan arrived; the Ensign nodded demurely to the Commodore as he set down a porcelain mug (a clay-brown in colour—Torq wasn't particular about that) on the desk before him. The mug was full to the brim, and steam playfully coiled around itself and up, alerting the Commodore to its temperature.

Torquil liked his tea hot.

The door opened, and Marrent strode in. Torquil frowned a bit. Whenever the Priest visited the Commodore it usually meant extra paperwork or an investigation of some form. He watched the religious man admire the Resolute, a tinge of pride swelling up within him. Two seconds away from a hearty sip, he set the mug down, and nodded to Marrent as he began. He listened politely until the priest was finished.

"...we need immediate action Commodore. As always, my temple stands ready to assist you in any way Commodore." Finished Marrent, speaking for no more than three to five minutes.

He was about to reply to the priest, reaching for his mug once again (which was now steadily cooling). He figured that a quick sip to wet his throat was proper, and he'd inform him of his decision.

It was at that moment when Phelan entered the guardhouse, speaking quickly in response to the priest's tirade. The Commodore grunted quietly to himself, and set the mug back down, untouched—it didn't seem polite. He leaned back, folding his arms across his chest, and listened carefully.

"Commodore, two things for you..." Phelan continued, his face betraying his clear passion. The Commodore tried to maintain a stolid expression, his eyes occasionally glancing to his mug, now devoid of any steam. It was probably lukewarm now. As the sorcerer finished he nodded, about to speak, grasping for his mug.

But he didn't get very far. Father Marrent broke in, replying with great energy to the claims made by the Vigilo knight. Torquil frowned, muttering inwardly, and leaned back again.

"Surely, you are not thinking straight for the moment. Surely your own pride is getting in the way to see the truth here Sir Phelan." Marrent intoned, the Commodore quirking a brow at that suggestive statement. As the Priest wrapped up, the Commodore held up a hand in an attempt to ingratiate himself into the proceedings, a bare hand wrapping around the delicate porcelain of his now cooling drink.

"...you call him a deserter and say that this one single report, from afar with no details of the conversation is proof of his treachery..." Phelan replied, turning to meet the Priest's eyes, his own burning.

The Commodore stifled a sigh, this time folding his arms across his desk, absorbing the sorcerer's points with an open mind.

"However, Priest Marrent's words, repeated, in public, are most certainly in violation of Article 1, Section 11, paragraph 3, subparagraph 1 of the Imperial Law and I request that the matter be attended to." The Knight concluded, rounding on the Commodore as he finished. Torquil leaned back, exhaling again. He dismissed his beverage, and instead took the opportunity to speak.

"I have heard the rumours, and have read the report on Sir Greywolf's alleged behaviour. If any of it is true, which I am inclined to believe it is given its source, then it certainly warrants an investigation—not only into Kadmiel, but perhaps into his colleagues if deemed necessary by the appropriate authorities."

He paused for a moment, turning to each man. "I am not the appropriate authority. I am the Commodore of a fleet of officers who enforce the law within this city. The Argentum Vigilo are not even based in Cear. I have received no instructions from my superiors regarding any of the Vigilo and their conduct. I have no authority, nor jurisdiction, to spearhead any investigation, nor do I presume to deem any sort of enforcement actionable. I have no intention of doing anything about Kadmiel."

He paused again, his gaze flickering to his untouched tea. "I also have no intention of charging Father Marrent. The Cerulean Fleet will do nothing in this regard, and in fact, Father Marrent has my support in ensuring that Sir Greywolf indeed atone for whatever crime has committed; but not my legal support, for I cannot proffer it."

"However, I can forward your concerns, Father Marrent, to my superiors at the Ministry of Internal Discipline. I will leave it to them to rule in this case, though I am sure they have already caught wind of it, and are proceeding with an investigation of their own."

He stopped, and then earnestly leaned forward, grabbing hold of his porcelain mug. He took a generous sip.

It was cold.

"Very well, Commodore. I understand your position. I am sorry about your tea. Perhaps once this is blown over, I can make it up to you."

Nodding, the sorcerer turns and and leaves the guardhouse, enchanting as he exits the building, and disappears from view.

As Phelan continues their dialogue with burning eyes Father Arghivius covers somewhat as if threatened by a bully. He looks around the room as if planning an escape route but apparently realising Phelan superiority he settles with taking a side step closer to the Commodores desk instead.

When Phelans remark has ended the Commodore breaks in explaining his standing point.

After Phelan takes his leave the priest lets out a sigh of relief.

“I was not aware that it was allowed to interrupt a citizen incident report like that” he muses at the door swings shut.

Turning toward the Commodore he smiles friendly:

“I am sure the good Sir Phelan is only wrapped up in this messy business for the moment. A fine citizen like that would be upset under current circumstances.”

“I am painfully aware of your limited jurisdiction Commodore. I ask you of nothing more than what you offered.”

*the priests seem to have more to his mind but noticing the obvious irritation in the commodores posture he withdraws his final claims

“May Rauth fill your sails with a strong winds Commodore,”

*Taking a polite bow he himself heads toward the exit.*
