saying "I'm bored" is the equivalent of a red rag to a Bull if a DM hears it, and typically the results are funny as well as fatal!Peregrinus wrote:The last time I said "I'm bored" to a DM, I got my first introduction to the Claw and Whisper.
Another time Trogdor the Burninator showed up en mass in the Koalisk Den.
And then there was the demon chicken...

I'm bored sort of goes along with "It's awfully quiet here". Last time someone said that out of one of my koalisks, we got about 5-8 Claw Warlords, and 2 Red Dragons. My rogue nearly wet herself.

Re: True Seeing
The spell you describe is exactly what the spell Clairaudience and Clairvoyance does in NWN2 (nothing like the PnP spell by the same name). True seeing itself is not supposed to have any effect on your ability to see hiding creatures at all and is wholly concerned with magical effects. Since what it does for the caster in these respects is severely nerfed from the actually PnP spell, they apparently decided to add the auto-detect-stealthing part to try to make up for it. Hopefully OE will fix the spell eventually, but in the meantime, i would support modifying it so that it doesn't help spot hidden creatures.Kit Sune wrote:Ok do any other rogues out there think that this spell should be modified? I mean I have played on another server on NWN 1 that changed the spell so that it instead of being able to automatically see through stealth it actually confers a +10 to spot and listen. Just want to know what you guys think.

True Seeing, in fact, does have some effect on stealthing characters. Read the description in the PHB/SRD:
While I agree True Seeing should probably not grant the ability to spot hiding creatures, it should, effectively, make the Hide in Plain Sight ability null and void.
Normal and magical darkness, specifically - the problem is, NWN's engine does not allow us to specifically simulate hiding behind/under/above objects, or in any way, shape, or form aside of 'lurking in the shadows'.You confer on the subject the ability to see all things as they actually are. The subject sees through normal and magical darkness, notices secret doors hidden by magic, sees the exact locations of creatures or objects under blur or displacement effects, sees invisible creatures or objects normally, sees through illusions, and sees the true form of polymorphed, changed, or transmuted things. Further, the subject can focus its vision to see into the Ethereal Plane (but not into extradimensional spaces). The range of true seeing conferred is 120 feet.

Still seems a bit premature in discussion, though I do agree that HIPS in NWN1 was/is a real problem. Hopefully the cool down timer will make it a bit more manageable.
I think we will have to wait and see how they, Obsidian, handle the hide/invs fix in the 1.06 patch (if they can get to it).
IMHO HIPS was more successful at defeating players behind the keyboards by forcing them to lose their target (the 1 level of shadow dancer cheeze always bothered me). But now that NWN2 has a "target nearest" key, hopefully HIPS won't be quite so easy to abuse, since in theory when you lose target on a HIPSter, you should be able to regain target with a key stroke (if you have the spot/listen skills) instead of trying to re-click.

How to repair Sleight of Hand and True Seeing
As I take it, True Seeing is supposed to be a rather powerful spell, and, in my opinion, it should be allowed to reveal all.
However, it shouldn't be in the 5th level spellbook. It most certainly shouldn't be a 3rd level bonus for certain clerical spheres. Leave the spell alone, but make the spell for difficult to obtain.
As far as Halberds getting pick pocketed: I remember reading once that pick pocket worked on objects that took up three squares or less. Since all objects are now one square in the inventory list, anything can get pick pocketed.
Solution, make it so pick pocket can only take objects that are less than a certain weight (say four pounds or less), or a max gold amount (say 400). I know there is a way to do it since it has been done on other servers I used to play on, but I haven't found a way to script it yet.

Agreed here. Honestly, you cannot steal the armor/shield/massive greataxe off of someone's back without them noticing! In doing so and not giving up the item OOC or roleplaying a snatch and run would result in an exploit in my honest opinion.RUReadySetGo wrote:As I take it, True Seeing is supposed to be a rather powerful spell, and, in my opinion, it should be allowed to reveal all.

first of all, a level 6 spell is well earned, i dont quite get it, if a rogue hate that spell that much , they could just use a little scroll to dispel it if they plan to do something if its releated with Hips, as for thieves, they could be a lev 3-4 stealing a lev 11-13 quite well , wands that cost 20k-40k is easy picking for them and it all depend of the spot skill check so i dunno but true seeying is a rather good defence.
